Building the future of data-enabled defence training with augmented reality

When founder and Managing Director, Rob Taylor asked us to get some photographs of their new products we knew the perfect place - and people - to help us!

4GD (4th Generation Defence) is a company dedicated to enhancing the success of military operations through advanced training technology. They emphasise their veteran experience and the unpredictability of future combat scenarios. Their primary offering is the SmartFacility™, which serves as an immersive training environment that combines physical and virtual elements.

4GD draws on its military background to provide technology that enables trainees to work with modern warfighting assets, even those typically considered too dangerous, difficult, or costly to use in regular training. The SmartFacility™ is described as cutting-edge, offering both deployable and non-deployable options.

This training solution is designed to be highly immersive, adaptable, and data-focused, utilising data to enhance the training experience. It offers incremental capability with five optimised levels, building upon each other to provide increasingly realistic simulations.

Wanting to capture the walls when used in a realistic training scenario, we reached out to the theatrical film and TV advisors, Bare Arms, and scheduled our shoot when they were training a group of actors on an indoor range, to really show off the product’s versatility across many sectors!
